Mogwai - Young Team (10th anniversary)

I take inspiration from the imminent new album by Mogwai (which I have not heard) to talk again the origin of all, namely the Scottish band's debut album "Young Team" and celebrated its tenth anniversary with a little 'delay by Chemical Underground with a prestigious and rich reprint.

Of course I'm going from memory, the disc will not play in my head for years but as echoes ever, borne of his seminal and innovative sound: after "Young Team" nothing will ever be for the world index.

First the trends: bold, devastating, out of reach and brazen in their evolution. You go from distortion to clean greedy as lava crystalline and melodic, sometimes dreamy ("Like Herod"). And then out of control ... decibel noise unbearable ... piano returns, delay and reverb just mentioned. A new world, strictly instrumental because there are no words to express what I want to say the quintet ... Only in one piece and it reminds me of something "With Portfolio".

I think for a moment: are U2, ... maybe better ... the most romantic and sad at the same time more melodic and resolute in the direction as to engage the workpiece.

course, the ear long jump final piece of the album, "Mogwai Fear Satan" that offers everything that the boys are able to do: perfect circular suite capable of grasping more moods simultaneously, as if they were on the same lines of the same staff.

Anxiety, pain, sadness, serenity, love of life. Another reason to love the Mogwai is that people are truly sui generis, never dull in interviews, at times enigmatic.

Certainly not when the best training tumbler of "bastards" of rock:
Jagger, Bono (ops!), Morrison and Ulrich
There's no denying ... not bad, but assuming Mr. Hewson on guitar and two voices, immediately struck the eye in the absence of a bass line-up.
One more? McCartney's candidacy? Ah ah ah ah!

Fujiya & Miyagi - Lightbulbs

I like categorizing music: indie folk, electronics, heavy metal conceptual post bucolic pop. They are fun, sometimes useful and sometimes not. The secret is not to take it too seriously: in the end it's only rock 'n' roll.
Behold, the new album by Fujiya & Miyagi is from indie-dance room. Why Indie ? For item intimate at times and whispered to the image of the trio: those sweatshirts are clearly indie!
Why dance? To the beat, hallmark of the disc, bass and drums that move the head and feet in time. Knickerbockers listen and tell me if it is not. Difficult to imagine the crowds dancing. Easier to think of your room (real or virtual) as a place of its staff and intimate rave party. In short, anything techno, house and glamorous, but a robust rhythm bass and drums accompanying the persuasive voice of the singer.
A disk that runs nice without shaking.
Sometimes it's so pretty.

Two pieces worth mentioning: Uh
(cica cica bum!)
Knickerbockers (but who is Lena Zavaroni?)

ps I forgot, I'm not Japanese but English, Brighton to be precise.
