Cold ... Dog! Hog Radio

With the arrival of cold weather is a must discuss a topic important to the health of our animal friends: the fight against the cold. A remedy for when you leave is the use of a coat, preferably waterproof externally: keeps you warm when it rains and keeps the hair of the dog is dirty (with the annoying consequences fragrance well known to all owners of dogs!). Veterinarians recommend but do not overdo it, in fact dogs tolerate cold better than us, and even some race (just think of the siberian husky) he goes crazy. Cats usually tolerate it but if you prefer by far too hot, except for the felines Nordic more resistant to low temperatures. Although low temperatures, rain and snow rarely cause illness in our pets (of course to those healthy, vaccinated, well-fed and a roof over your head). But there are some dangerous situations such as older dogs, those short-haired and delicate as the Pointer, Chihuahua, Boxer, Dalmatian and the malnourished animals.
The problem for our lucky friends healthy and pampered and are now used to living in warm houses, stuffed in kennels, sometimes even sleeping under the covers as if they were children. What to us may seem like a caring and attentive attitude, however, does sometimes lose their ability to defend itself with means that Mother Nature has given them: the hair, the subcutaneous fat, the fingertips. Some piece of advice to avoid the damage that this could result in:
1) If possible, avoid prolonged exposure to cold. I always recommend not to let the dogs sleep outside but if it is really necessary given to adequate shelter, a well-insulated dog house (there are really good in today's trading day), with a straw or a clean background.
2) Avoid temperature extremes. Older dogs or just made, puppies and some copy-haired may be affected by the passage caldofreddo. Gradually accustom them to different temperatures, especially during evening walks or use a coat (there are wonderful as the one next to Vuitton) , nothing too light, we're not at the north pole!) Can be helpful.
3) In case of rain can be useful to have some important attentions. An animal should never stop wet, or it could take a tracheitis or bronchitis (without dimentiacre that animals are cooled just like us!). Once back at home is quite dry with a towel or a hair dryer if it did not bother and are not overly large in size. Do not abuse the dryer, however, because excessive heat can damage the hair, the better a nice dry manual.
4) In case of snow remember that some dogs hate, others love it, very few resist the temptation to eat it. Cats instead scrupulously avoids. Be careful, however, that the pieces of snow (and especially the chemical salt) often cause gastrointestinal discomfort. then Frost is particularly dangerous for the pads to which proviacre cuts can also: if the dog limps check it thoroughly.
5) Beware of hypothermia syndrome is rare but can happen if you are in particularly cold. The symptoms are: slow heartbeat, shortness of breath and dizziness. Wrap once the animal in a blanket and move it to a sheltered place. Heat it with bottles or bags of hot water, not boiling attention and made some slight friction.
