No/cd Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Platinum

Santogold - s / t

Santogold: Indie, rock, punk, new wave, rap blended together for a result so catchy because of thinness.
The disc is sometimes very pleasant, well-made pieces, catchy melodies and a major appeal of the girl.

But there is something that does not convince me. It is not only the continued reference to other artists and genres (among the first Siouxsie, Pixies, MIA), but the general feeling of coldness and smallness of the disc as a whole.

A little new wave, pop a small choir, a touch of style too calculated for MIA .. earn. Too much homework, well done, by crossover. Too little passion. Too little time to insist on listening to the album.

bad, had a perfect image as hero for this week. Until next time.

Mogwai - Young Team (10th anniversary)

I take inspiration from the imminent new album by Mogwai (which I have not heard) to talk again the origin of all, namely the Scottish band's debut album "Young Team" and celebrated its tenth anniversary with a little 'delay by Chemical Underground with a prestigious and rich reprint.

Of course I'm going from memory, the disc will not play in my head for years but as echoes ever, borne of his seminal and innovative sound: after "Young Team" nothing will ever be for the world index.

First the trends: bold, devastating, out of reach and brazen in their evolution. You go from distortion to clean greedy as lava crystalline and melodic, sometimes dreamy ("Like Herod"). And then out of control ... decibel noise unbearable ... piano returns, delay and reverb just mentioned. A new world, strictly instrumental because there are no words to express what I want to say the quintet ... Only in one piece and it reminds me of something "With Portfolio".

I think for a moment: are U2, ... maybe better ... the most romantic and sad at the same time more melodic and resolute in the direction as to engage the workpiece.

course, the ear long jump final piece of the album, "Mogwai Fear Satan" that offers everything that the boys are able to do: perfect circular suite capable of grasping more moods simultaneously, as if they were on the same lines of the same staff.

Anxiety, pain, sadness, serenity, love of life. Another reason to love the Mogwai is that people are truly sui generis, never dull in interviews, at times enigmatic.

Certainly not when the best training tumbler of "bastards" of rock:
Jagger, Bono (ops!), Morrison and Ulrich
There's no denying ... not bad, but assuming Mr. Hewson on guitar and two voices, immediately struck the eye in the absence of a bass line-up.
One more? McCartney's candidacy? Ah ah ah ah!

Labelled Parts Of Ship

Fujiya & Miyagi - Lightbulbs

I like categorizing music: indie folk, electronics, heavy metal conceptual post bucolic pop. They are fun, sometimes useful and sometimes not. The secret is not to take it too seriously: in the end it's only rock 'n' roll.
Behold, the new album by Fujiya & Miyagi is from indie-dance room. Why Indie ? For item intimate at times and whispered to the image of the trio: those sweatshirts are clearly indie!
Why dance? To the beat, hallmark of the disc, bass and drums that move the head and feet in time. Knickerbockers listen and tell me if it is not. Difficult to imagine the crowds dancing. Easier to think of your room (real or virtual) as a place of its staff and intimate rave party. In short, anything techno, house and glamorous, but a robust rhythm bass and drums accompanying the persuasive voice of the singer.
A disk that runs nice without shaking.
Sometimes it's so pretty.

Two pieces worth mentioning: Uh
(cica cica bum!)
Knickerbockers (but who is Lena Zavaroni?)

ps I forgot, I'm not Japanese but English, Brighton to be precise.

Laundromat On The Upper East

Offlaga Disco Pax LLDCE + Live Radio Shock Wave (BS)

Ben returned to all and sorry for the unexcused absence ... but you know ... Summer happens to have some amnesia with the blog ...

On the other hand I have saved a series of concerts, including the appointment of the Feast of Shock Wave Radio in Brescia, an event lasting two weeks (dell'antiproibizionismo banner) with a series of concerts interesting and charming.

The Offlaga I had never seen live. I placed directly under the stage, a couple of meters from the 'ideology of low intensity "Max Hill and I realize now that the ODP is a real group, concretely, that is to say that music has substance, fuck.

A little 'as the tube toblerone the foot of the microphone to evoke "Cioccolato IACP" or chocolate launched in Europe miss the first public performance of a piece.

The initial pieces are not my favorite in and out very well, so I'm looking forward to a foretaste of those that make me crazy: like "Where did I put my Golf?" I open my heart, beautiful, perfect in execution and in the balance as per album. The work of two friends behind Max is huge. Alternate guitar and bass, but also keyboards, samples, Moog.

All "premeditated" and studied in detail, but with a dedication to the feeling that practically I have never seen on stage.

"Farsightedness" I opened the 64-teeth smile, "sensitivity" makes me think that Offlaga are currently among my five favorite bands ever.

"Twenty Minutes" brings me one step away from tears, so much so that I look around to notice if anyone has noticed, in my turn, realizing that someone is in my own emotional conditions.

I go to the banquet and the only disappointment is that I can see already that I did not buy anything ... so I'm happy to buy a badge from 1 € and I regret not being able to show off a shirt. In the end I think this group is only the second disk and is so dense due to the fact that kids have breached the 30 years from a piece ... necessary condition to make a great record?

Apparently not, since Brondi Vasco (aka Le Luci Della Centrale Elettrica) had opened the concert in the company of Giorgio Canali convincingly.

disk I have already spoken (see back on this very blog) and live impressions are positive: the only thing is that Vasco is more intimate than the singer-songwriter and stage and crowd, not the great outdoors facilitate, as well as being simply "two guitars and a voice."

He is intense, plays, screaming, remember and pronounce thousands of words and they all seem perfect. Clearly, being on stage two is a mess, the engineer invents some trick effect the voice, but the trick is not always the right one.

The songs remain, and are enormous. And the live is to be reviewed, perhaps in a small club of 100 people standing.

However, two Italian companies abroad that anyone should envy.
the face of Italian groups that sing often mumbling language across the Channel.
