Ship And Names Of Parts

Xabier Iriondo & Gianni Mimmo - "Your very eyes" LIVE Malegno (BS)

I was undecided whether to offer the reportage of Rage Against The Machine concert in Modena. In the end it was a prevedibilissimo RATM concert ... nothing to compare with another event so unusual as proposed by the exciting duo Gianni Mimmo and Xabier Iriondo (yes ... I was there for him, followed by ten years in all its musical forays and I could not make me miss an update on his fitness).

The place of performance is the Museum of Fudine Malegno (BS) and the frame is the "Clusone Jazz Festival. The two certainly have a different musical background (Xabier within the indie-rock stakes in unexplored areas of the avant-garde and experimental, Gianni Mimmo to guess for classical and jazz) and are the first equipped with homemade instruments of nature electro-acoustic and electronic artifacts of mysterious origin (I could not be more precise, I swear) and the second for a soprano sax and a giant contrabass saxophone (I peeked on the internet, my ignorance on how to identify them the first and second clarinet ... boh? never seen guys I swear!).

The room is full and the silence is absolute. By that have already started a few minutes and c'impiego a bit 'first to relate in a non-confrontational with the sounds produced. The musicians you hear them breathe, breathe, rub the soles of the plastic coating on a small stage set up and all, magically, after half an hour of careful listening, began to take shape. The soprano sax jazz draws arabesques unabashed flirting in a seemingly distant with sound - to me the most familiar and understandable - produced by former "A Short Apnea" Iriondo, and as they continue with the concert, I find it progressively more and more interaction between the duo and the environment around them.

In a sense they borrow gradually become more and more loose and more likely to listen to him and all the concert halls of intensity. I am not surprised at all then the words of Mimmo that set forth the requirement of the duo to interact with the environment around them, with the stone (above) but also with the iron, the cavities, the protuberances of natural and non-mixing (term quite inappropriate in the case specific) natural sounds and sounds produced by machines.

The idea is a great freedom of expression, the need to explore uncharted territories completely, cut the conventions and stereotypes by live music and interact worlds apart, they really need to talk to be revealed closer than it appears at first sight.

If I were to own a piece of advice I would say that it might be the case maggiormante to balance the sound system (a little 'unbalanced in favor of wind nell'udibilità) amplifying perhaps with greater force on the work done by Xabier.

For the rest, pure magic ... great ...
